Expandable Technology: Value Driven Solutions for Drilling and Production - Jerry Fritsch, Global Solutions Manager, Enventure Global Technology Drilling and production technology continually evolves to meet the needs of operators who are constantly challenged to produce assets more efficiently and strategically. From re-stimulating mature assets to pushing technical boundaries in deepwater discoveries, expandable technology is proving to be an economical, value-based solution in a broad range of applications. Solid expandable technology has evolved from being solely a contingency liner in unplanned drilling problems. Today, incorporating expandable technology into primary well design has reduced overall well costs by up to 30% in some fields. Its combination with other advanced technology such as hydra-jet perforating and intelligent completions is maximizing stimulation programs and helping operators dramatically increase production. In addition to the technical solutions, operators have realized significant savings by conserving pipe tonnage, reducing consumables, and decreasing environmental disturbance. Projects previously deemed cost prohibitive gained economic feasibility through the value of solid expandable technology. With more than 1,100 installations in the past ten years, solid expandable technology advancements have achieved industry-wide recognition through execution excellence and high reliability as successful commercial and technical solutions for drilling and production enhancement. Expandables will continue to evolve to address ever-changing technical challenges providing operators new valuable alternatives. Jerry Fritsch is the Global Solutions Manager for Enventure Global Technology and works with a staff of engineers that analyze and propose solutions for operators using solid expandable technology. Additionally, he supports Enventure’s Sales and Operations groups by providing application engineering and reliability analysis. He has over 35 years of engineering and operations management background, first with ConocoPhillips and now in the service sector at Enventure. With a career focus on well construction and operations, his experience includes: Gulf of Mexico, US Rockies and West Coast, Canadian Rockies and West Coast, Alaska North Slope, and UK North Sea. Jerry has published and presented numerous technical articles. He is an SPE member and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from LeTourneau University.
